Fantasyland is considered to be the gateway to make-believe which you enter through Cinderella Castle. Fantasyland is built to feel like a European Gothic village and contains the most rides per area. A good bit of the rides and attractions are based of Disney cartoons or movies such as Peter Pan's Flight and Snow White's Scary Adventure. The village feel is reinforced by the walls on top of the buildings closest to the castle. This gives the area a fortified look with the castle turrets peeking over.
[edit] Design and Construction
Herb Ryman, a WDI artist, was in charge for the design of Cinderella Castle as well as the over all look of Fantasyland. Walt called upon him to produce most of the early concept art for the creation of the land at Disneyland. The land was designed in such a way to make it clear that this was a fully imaginary world and bring Walt's stories to life.
