Adventureland was one of the first 'lands' to be developed by Imagineer's for Disneyland. Much of the problem in the design was how to display Adventure. The land has many themes from the Caribbean Sea, South Sea Tropics, and Arabia. Much of the land was duplicated from the Disneyland park along with the key rides. Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise are the main rides in this area with the most popular eatery being the Aloha Isle.

Construction of the park was done along with the creation of the park. Imaginer Morgan "Bill" Evans was the one in charge of the design and development of the landscaping in this area. One issue with the growing of plants in this area was due to the amounts of clay that was filled in between the utilidoors. Many of the plants had large pits dug for their base along with holes drilled down and filled with clay to allow the plants go grow deep roots. One of the largest trees was the 'Disneyodendron eximus' which is the home of the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House.

[edit] Land to Land

The main entrance to Adventureland is from Main Street U.S.A.. The Crystal Palace is near the first entrance which has a wonderful Colonial-inspired look which gives a nice transition to Adventureland. The transition to Frontierland is a little simpler.

Originally Adventureland ended at Tropical Serenade/Enchanted Tiki Room since Pirates of the Caribbean and its plaza was not built yet. In 1976 the current passage from Adventureland to Frontierland was opened through the Caribbean Plaza
